A team of parents, schools and governors representing Seal Primary School became superheroes after battling their way to third place in a raft race.
The Seal School Superheroes came third in the RNLI Selsey's raft race held during its lifeboat week – beaten only by the fire brigade and the Selsey lifeboat crew.
More competitors than ever took part in the race, with 13 teams showing their mettl
e out at sea.
The event contributed towards the whopping amount of £10,000 raised during lifeboat week.
"When you're out there at sea it feels like you're miles from the coast," said Sarah Bromfield, of the school team.
"The weather was terrible and the sea was nasty, but it was a fantastic family day out.
"We got a couple of chaps who knew what they were doing to help with the raft and we tested it a couple of days before the race. We couldn't even get it off the shore and we had absolutely no idea whether it would float or not."
Mrs Bromfield took part in the race alongside husband Tom, who is a governor at the primary school in East Street.
Four others, including a skipper, made up the team.
Lifeboat crew spokesman Dave Fotheringham said: "The wind was with them but the tide was against them, so it was pretty tough."
