A gang have been jailed for a total of 17 years for a shocking burglary in Selsey.
The four males knocked on the door of a home in Colt Street on the afternoon of October 18 last year and then when it was opened forced their way in to the house - spraying one of the occupants in the face with an unpleasant fluid.
They searched the house and stole a Sony Playstation, a Nintendo DS, four mobile 'phones and some cash totalling around £1,300.
The group received custodial sentences at a hearing in Chichester Crown Court on Friday, August 15, where three of the men were jailed for a total of 17 years for committing aggravated burglary.
Ashley Brogden (21) from London and Emmanuel Kibaya (22) also from London pleaded guilty to the offence at an early stage of the investigation and each received five year prison sentences.
Justin Chevennes (23) from London had pleaded 'not guilty' and was tried at Chichester Crown Court.
He was found guilty and received a seven year custodial sentence.
A fourth male aged only 16 years at the time of the offence was sentenced to a 24 month detention and training order. He cannot be named for legal reasons.
The four males travelled to Selsey in a Vauxhall Astra owned by Kibaya.
Police requested a confiscation order on the vehicle which was granted by the court. This means that the vehicle will now be seized by Police and sold.
DS Tracy Edwards said "Sussex Police conducted a thorough investigation of this offence.
"The court result clearly shows that crimes of this nature will not be tolerated.
"The seizure of assets, in this case the offenders car, should act as a warning to other criminals that they run the risk of losing their possessions if found guilty of similar offences".
