Have your say

Scouts and Cubs made a splash at The Triangle leisure centre when they took part in a closely fought swimming gala.

More than 300 parents and leaders were there to watch 25 teams from the Mid Sussex District compete in the nail-biting contest, which was decided in the very last race.

In all, there were 150 swimmers battling it out in 38 races, with plenty of hoarse voices from excited families in the gallery.

The overall winners in the Cub section were 1st Burgess Hill Brownsea, with last year’s winners, 1st Cuckfield, just pipped into second place and 1st Hassocks A in third.

For the Scout section, the overall winners were 1st Burgess Hill A, with 1st Lindfield in second place and 1st Hassocks A in third place.

The trophies were presented by the Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council, Councillor Gordon Marples, who is pictured with each winning team.

The Scout Active Support Unit, which played a crucial part in helping Saturday’s (February 1) gala to run smoothly, provides extra help for Scouting activities in Mid Sussex and also runs fund-raising social events.
