A man sustained serious head injuries in Burgess Hill early this morning (Sunday, June 28) following an altercation.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 3.15am when an altercation broke out between three men in Mill Road.

The road was closed this morning at the junction with Spanish Court as police officers from the Police Scientific Support Unit investigated.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “During the incident two men were assaulted. One, aged 20, received serious head injuries and is currently in hospital. A second man, aged 24, received minor injuries to his face and has been released from hospital.

“The suspect is described as a white man with short light brown hair, aged approximately 25 years, and of stocky build. It’s is possible that he left the area with another man after getting into a small white van. Anyone with any information please call 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
