BALCOMBE PARISH COUNCIL VACANCY – A Parish Councillor vacancy has been created due to the resignation of Councillor Catherine Miners. Balcombe Parish Council will be filling this vacancy by co-option and electors are invited to apply for the position in writing to the Clerk - Mrs R. Candidates must [a] Be aged 18 years or over and included in the Electoral Register. [b] A British subject or a Euro national. [c] Resides in the Parish or within 3 miles of its boundary r. [d] Occupies land or property within the Parish or [e] Has his/her principal place of work within the Parish
Prospective candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the disqualification restrictions under Section 80 of the Local Government Act 1972 relating to Bankruptcy Restrictions Orders and Criminal Convictions carrying a sentence of more than 3 months imprisonment, without the option of a fine. The closing dates for applications will be 4 September 2015.

HALF MOON – I’m sure I speak for many when I say Goodbye and Thank You To Micki who has sadly now left the Half Moon after making it a thriving and welcoming place to be for the last couple of years. We will miss you Micki but best of luck for the future. The pub is re-launching on Friday 21 August with a New Chef and New Menu, having undergone refurbishment.

CRAFT GIFT & LOCAL PRODUCE FAIR takes place on Saturday 22 August from 10.00 am until 2.00 pm in the Victory Hall when the Victory Hall Management Committee will be manning the refreshments and charity table. This month there will be wooden puzzles, hand-made gifts & pictures for the home, paper crafts, scrap-booking, stamps, French soaps, Tunisian Foutas (towels), dog and vintage products. Look out too for the pewter and silver products, jewellery, cakes, upholstery, cards, glass, stationery and cushions. The lady with the fabulous rafia bags will also be there. In the Forest Room catch Richard with his sausages, Gareth with chocolate truffles and Mary with her cakes, chutneys and jams. The Car Park will be resplendent with plants from Rapkyns and the popular Fresh Fish Stall. FLOWER CLUB meet on Saturday 22 August from 2.00 – 4.00 pm for their summer tea party in the Parish Room. All refreshments will be homemade with a lovely choice to tempt you. There will be various stalls too.

BALCOMBE BOWLS CLUB – On Wednesday 12 August Balcombe 59: Horley 73. On Saturday 15 August it was the Mac Triples Cup day and the winning team were Graham Voller, Adam Galbraith and Ray Voller. On Sunday 16 August Balcombe hosted the Stewart Oxley final with Preston Park beating Burgess Hill 20:19. Also on the Sunday Balcombe had a win over Southgate Park beating them 67: 36.

ROAD WORKS – Traffic on the High Street will be disrupted until 24 August with two way signals in place to allow for road stud work to take place.
