CELEBRATE OLDER PEOPLE’S DAY - There will be an Afternoon Tea & Raffle event on Thursday 8 October from 2.30 – 4.30 pm in Bramble Hall. SCOUT JUMBLE SALE – start sorting now because the Scouts are running a Mega Jumble Sale on Saturday 10 October from 2.00 – 3.30 pm in the Victory Hall, Stockcroft Road. Lots of bargains, clothes, shoes, children’s toys & bric-a-brac. 50p entrance. Free Parking. Please bring jumble donations to the hall on the morning not before 9.30am or call 01444 819053 if collection or early drop off is required. Regrettably NO electrical items or furniture. All help gratefully received on the day to sort and/or selling. Any good quality clothes left over will be donated to organisations who are collecting for the Syrian Refugee Crisis or the Gatwick Detainee Welfare Group.
BALCOMBE CLUB QUIZ – Take this opportunity to enjoy Pam & Barrie’s Quiz on Sunday 11 October at 8.00 pm and to admire the new décor in the Club. The Committee have worked hard to brighten and update the interior with new carpet, light fittings and chairs. Teams of four.
CINEMA - the next film to be screened at the Victory Hall will be the hit drama - “A Royal Night Out” on Wednesday 14 October starting at 7.30 pm. The film stars Sarah Gordon, Emily Watson and Rupert Everett. Tickets priced at £6 are available from Threads.
BARN DANCE – The French Association are organising a French Themed Barn Dance in the Victory Hall on 17 October. It was a fantastic success last year (almost a capacity attendance) and the same band is back again this year. The band is called the Buzznicks and they are affiliated to Dansez Francais in Brighton. There will be great food and drink, so plenty of opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Tickets from Threads £10 for Members, £12 for non-Members, £6 children under 16. The ticket price includes Table d’hôte supper, Live Band and Caller. There will be a bar with soft drinks available too.
NO 37 BUS ROUTE – Advance notice that the 37 bus route will change on Monday 26 October. Buses going towards Crawley will stop at Balcombe Station, then travel up Newlands, along Oldlands and turn left into Haywards Heath Road. The bus can be hailed anywhere along this route, subject to it being safe to stop. The next official stop will be directly opposite the Rectory and south bound bus stop. The route is reversed for southbound travel. The timetable is revised slightly: buses going towards Crawley will be 5 minutes later at 32 minutes past the hour; buses going towards Haywards Heath will be 4 minutes later at 17 minutes past the hour. A new timetable is being printed. A local fare will be offered for travel within the village, thus saving a walk from say the village store to Newlands.
