EXHIBITION: Balcombe History Society’s Exhibition on Saturday May 21st called “Treasures in Store” is at the Victory Hall, Stockcroft Road, RH17 6JN from 10am – 3pm. A selection of our archive material and recent acquisitions for you to explore. We now have the full records of the Parish Registers, from 1539 and Tony Perkins will be available to help you trace your Balcombe ancestors. Tickets at the door are £1 for adults. BIRCHANGER GARDENS: The gardens open at 2.00 pm until 5.30 pm each day on Saturday 21 May for the NSPCC and Sunday 22 May for St. Mary’s Church. This beautiful garden is located on the High Street (B2110) two miles east of Handcross, and is a truly delightful and remarkable garden offering breathtaking displays of azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias etc. It is possible to spend the whole afternoon wandering round the gardens, admiring the various structures and features as well as the beautiful plants. Information boards as you meander round give interesting facts about how the gardens have matured and events that have shaped them. After the walk you can relax on the lovely lawn where delicious home-made cakes and teas/coffee will be available. The children will enjoy the afternoon just as much as the adults. Entry is £5 per person; children 12 and under go free.
