THE FUTURE OF THE HALF MOON: meeting which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 5 October at 7.00 pm has been relocated to the Victory Hall from Bramble Hall because of the anticipated level of interest. FLOWER CLUB: meet on Friday 30 September 7.30 pm for 8.00 pm in the Parish Room. The demonstrator will be Gill Homer and her theme is “Time Out.”

61 CLUB COFFEE MORNING: takes place on Saturday 1 October from 10.00 am until 12 noon in the Parish Room. There will be a raffle, tombola, cakes/produce, and a bring and buy stall. Come along and support the group – this is an important fund-raiser for them and offers the chance for you to catch up with your friends. Any donations for the stalls would be most welcome on the morning itself.

HARVEST & THANKSGIVING SERVICE: takes place on Sunday 2 October at 10.00 am in St. Mary’s Church see below.

PLOUGHING MATCH: Come along to Bowders Farm on Saturday 1 October from 9.00 am for the annual district ploughing match. Watch traditional ploughing methods using heavy horses and old vintage tractors competing against the large modern tractors. Ploughing finishes at 12 noon. There is also a novelty dog show (dogs must be kept on leads), terrier racing, Tug of War, mini fun-fair, and crafts/produce. You will also be able to enjoy hot food, and local ales in the Beer Tent. The other attractions include tractor rides and hedge laying. No knowledge of ploughing is required to enjoy this very traditional show. Now in its 111th year.

BOWLS CLUB: Last weekend saw the last match of the season and Balcombe Bowls Club ended on a win with Balcombe 106 and the Hawth 64. This season the Club’s performance has improved from last year’s efforts, they won 20 matches and lost 25. Congratulations to the Club and fingers crossed for the 2017 season!

ST. MARY’S CHURCH: Sunday 2 October 8.00 am Holy Communion, 10.00 am Family Thanksgiving Celebration & Harvest – all are invited to attend this special service of thanksgiving when harvest gifts can be presented and the completion of the fundraising projects at St. Mary’s will be celebrated. 6.00 pm Harvest Evensong
