Barclays Bank at South Road Haywards Heath re-opened this morning after being closed yesterday because of a break-in.

Thieves forced their way in through an alleyway door and caused damage while taking money.

Sussex Police are appealing for information about the burglary, which happened on Tuesday night.

At 8.30am on Wednesday police received a report that Barclays Bank in South Road, Haywards Heath, had been broken into at some point during the night.

Crime Scene Investigators and detectives have been to the scene. Some coins were taken from the tills area, which had been damaged by the thief or thieves during the theft, and police believe entry was gained by forcing a door in an alleyway at the side of the bank.”

Detective Sergeant Glenn Willcocks said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the town centre overnight and who saw any suspicious activity around the bank or the adjacent roads. If you can help please contact us via 101 or email quoting serial 0223 of 4/12. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
