Borde Hill Garden celebrates with vintage food, drink and music

Borde Hill Garden will host a golden anniversary celebration on August 30.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration will feature plenty of popular music.

‘The bb Collective’ who will perform classic 60s music to complement the 60’s dress theme, with food and drink, guided garden walks, games and much more.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, enjoy the food and drink provided by R Bar Mobile and Eat Street Kitchen, or drop by tearoom Little Ritz for 60’s themed cakes and sandwiches.

In the morning, owner of Borde Hill Andrew john Stephenson Clarke, will lead a series of talks on the Garden’s history and its creation by his great grandfather.

Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of historical documents dating from the 1900s, which include archived photographs and rare letters to Borde Hill’s founder, Colonel Stephenson R Clarke, from the Great Victorian Plant Collectors.

The bb Collective’s original band ‘Soul Sauce’ was formed in 2007 to provide a fresh and funky new approach to live music entertainment.

Since then, they have played all over the world at live events, awards ceremonies, parties, gala dinners and over 200 weddings. 

The garden’s herbaceous borders and gold standard roses will be in full bloom. The Paradise Walk has been replanted with late summer colour with kniphofias, salvias, geraniums and asters.

The tranquil Italian Garden is also a highlight in August, with its terracotta pots filled with agapanthus and pelargoniums.
