PATIENTS’ FORUM MEETING: The Central Sussex Independent Patients’ Forum’s next meeting is on Thursday, 7th July. Will Clark, Director of Environmental Services at Sussex Community Foundation Trust, will be explaining the Trust’s “Carbon Programme”. By changing how people work, money has been saved and energy use much reduced. The meeting is free and open to all. It will take place in Martlet Heights – entrance opposite Iceland Store off Waitrose Car Park in Burgess Hill, and starts at 7.0 p.m.
BURGESS HILL ROYAL BRITISH LEGION WOMENS SECTION: At our Meeting on 21st June, we enjoyed a talk by Paul Green, whose subject was the Evening Argus. Mr Green is a former Branch Manager of the Haywards Heath Building Society(now the Yorkshire Building Society)in both the South Road and Broadway Branches. He has now left the Argus, and fills his time giving talks, which, as well as being extremely interesting, are also amusing and great fun. He brought along samples, including a copy of the very first Issue of the Argus. He also divulged that the very first journalists for the Argus, were, in fact, pigeons. After his talk, Members were given the opportunity to examine the items which Mr Green had brought with him in more detail.
Our Chairman, Sarah Voce, then advised us that at the recent Conference, motions to close the Womens Section were withdrawn, and that there will be a Board of Trustees Meeting to make the appropriate decisions on further action. Closure plans are, therefore, on hold until these decisions have been made. She also advised Members that a total of £310.40 had been sent to the Womens Section HQ, which had been raised by the donations of 5p to fill a large bottle. We have received a letter of thanks and a picture of Members with the bottle was posted on our Facebook page, and on the Womens Section National Facebook page.
There will be a Group 3 Meeting in Cowfold on Friday 1st July.
On 13th July Netta Martin is running a Bingo evening at the Cyprus Hall and the profits from the evening will be going to St Peters and St James Hospice in memory of Netta’s husband Eric.
