Live music, Father Christmas, and the Gruffalo all helped to make Burgess Hill’s Christmas lights switch-on a success.

There was a fancy dress competition for children under ten, an ice rink, and a preformance by the winning choir from Bright FM’s Search for a Christmas Choir Competition.

The grand switch-on.

Anna Bingham, Bright FM presenter was also present to join in the afternoon’s festivities.

Local music groups performed throughout the day to get shoppers and visitors in the festive spirit, including the Rock Choir, No Strings Attached, Salvation Army Band, Sheddingdean Baptist Gospel Choir and this year’s Martlets Shopping Centre’s Search for a Star Competition winner Dawn McCurry.

The Gruffalo put in several appearances out and about in Church Walk during the day while, of course, Father Christmas and his reindeer were in town.

The all-day free event was organised by the Burgess Hill Town Partnership.
