Newspress Ltd in Old Crawley Road, Horsham, contacted the County Times today to report a ‘major power outage’.

A statement from the firm, which acts as a public relations agency for the motoring industry, said it had lost the use of its landline, but could still be reached by email and mobile.

All other services were operating normally, it said.

A UK Power Networks representative said: “UK Power Networks engineers are working as quickly as possible to restore electricity supplies to 166 customers in the Old Crawley Road area of Horsham.

“At 2.15pm a fault on a piece of equipment on the overhead electricity network interrupted supplies to 323 properties. Engineers reconnected 157 supplies at 3.08pm and work is continuing to restore remaining supplies.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience this is causing and want to reassure them we are working to fix the problem.”
