Mid Sussex proposes a new charging rate for housing developers
DEVELOPERS will have to pay more when they build homes in Mid Sussex if a new proposal goes ahead.
The district council wants to raise a non-negotiable Community Infrastructure Levy, charging builders a set rate for every square metre of concrete they lay in Mid Sussex.
And the more rural the location of the development, the more the developer will have to pay ranging from £150 per square metre in a town to £210 in a village and £235 in a so-called rural zone.
The levy will not apply to offices, shops and industrial developments and buildings for the community.
Mid Sussex District Council will be asking for the views of the community and businesses in a consultation starting on February 9.
Residents can submit their views on the draft Charging Schedule, from February 9, online at www.midsussex.gov.uk/cil, by email at LDFconsultation@midsussex.gov.uk or in writing to Community Infrastructure Levy Consultation, Planning Policy and Economic Development, Mid Sussex District Council, Oaklands, Oaklands Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 1SS.
Proposed Levy (£/m2)
