A court hearing for the man accused of killing a woman found dead in a burning car in Ifield was adjourned today (Thursday June 4).
Christopher Jeffrey-Shaw, 26, of Lakeside, Beckenham, London, was set to enter a plea at Guildford Crown Court but the case was adjourned until July 3.
Jeffrey-Shaw was arrested by police after Janet Muller’s body was found in the boot of a burning car in Ifield on Friday March 13.
Miss Muller had been reported missing from the psychiatric ward of Mill View hospital, in Hove, at around 10pm on Thursday March 12.
Her body was discovered in the boot of a Volkswagen Jetta parked in Rusper Road, near Ifield Golf Club less than 24 hours later.
The 21-year-old, who was in the final year of an International Events Management degree at the University of Brighton’s Eastbourne campus, died of smoke inhalation.
Janet’s family paid tribute to her in a statement after her death.
It said: “She was always there for us and was someone that always made us smile and laugh no matter what.
“Janet was a very inspirational, passionate and caring person. Throughout her life she always cared deeply for her friends and family.
“This tragic event has left a deep hole in the hearts of all that knew her. She will be deeply missed and always remembered for her energetic, fun, bubbly and vibrant personality.”
