Centrestage students' exam success
STUDENTS at The Centrestage Theatre Group brought an examiner to tears after performing a true life drama exploring the issue of anorexia.
The pupils gained a mark of 90 per cent in the New Era Academy exam, the highest mark the examiner has ever awarded.
Alicia Anckorn, Charlotte Brockes and Mickey Vaughan were thanked by the examiner for "a beautifully conceived and performed drama which brought me to tears".
Other students who gained distinctions were Blake Hayes, Robyn Jenkins, Elspeth Dale, Helen Vigar, Abraam and Abbanoub Salama.
Centrestage has a strong focus on health, education and social issues and this culminates in a revue of the children's own work every two years.
All of this is under the guidance of mother and daughter duo Jacqui Edwards and Deborah Menadue, fully trained teachers and professionally experienced actors of stage and screen.
