One person has died after a fire in Littlehampton this afternoon (Saturday, October 10).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to a house in Harwood Road at 12:09pm, to reports of a fire with persons inside the property.

Paul Fuller, group manager at WSFRS, said: “We received a call at 12.09pm to a report of a fire in Harwood Road.

“Appliances were mobilised and we were informed persons may be inside the property.

“One fatality has been confirmed. The road will remain closed for the rest of the day.

“A fuller statement will be released later on.”
