Ben Jones says he’s ready to do whatever it takes to be Crawley’s next world champion - and possibly book a big fight in the USA.

Jones meets Kakhaber Avetisian for the vacant IBA super-featherweight title at the O2 Arena on Saturday night September 6 and the 32-year-old crowd pleaser says he will have “too much” for the Georgian in the 12-round fight.

“We’ve got a game plan,” said Jones, “and we’ve also got a Plan B and a Plan C.

“I usually go forward and throw lots of punches, but I don’t have to box like that. I know he’s tough and if I have to change things in the middle of the fight, I will.”

Jones has previously held English and WBO European belts and beating the Georgian could lead to a big fight overseas.

He said: “This isn’t just a world-title fight. This is a stepping stone to big money fights.

“The IBA title is massive in the States and Canada and if I win the belt, someone from there will want to take it off me.

“In America, they don’t really care who the British or Commonwealth champion is, but holding the IBA title will definitely make them take notice.”

Jones does a lot of charity work and pals including former footballers Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Des Walker will be cheering him on.

Also at ringside will be actors including Winston Ellis from ‘Batman: The Dark Knight,’ Andy Beckwith from ‘Game of Thrones’ and stars from EastEnders and Dr Who as well.

Jones has appeared in documentaries and advertisements himself and said: “I would love to get more involved in acting at some time.

“But for the moment, all I’m thinking about is this fight and bringing the world title back to Crawley.” Tickets for the show are available from 07720-045566 and 07798-655375.
