Price, 30, trained with his new team-mates for the first time today and will be in contention for Saturday’s League One game home game against Scunthorpe United.

He has joined until December 21 but will not be content to join Crawley just to warm the bench.

He told the club’s website: “I have played here before in friendlies for Palace and I know quite a few of the lads from various other clubs so that’s helped me settle in.

“It’s tough at Palace with Jules and Wayne Hennessey, who are two outstanding goalkeepers, there.

“I need to go and get games and this is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I am really looking forward to.”

Price will compete for a place with other goalkeepers Jamie Ashdown and Brian Jensen, who is on the transfer list.

Lewis has made more than 100 League appearances since making his debut for his first club Ipswich Town in 2004.

The 6ft 3in keeper made 75 appearances for the Portman Road club and also went on loan to Cambridge United before joining Derby County in 2007.

During his time with the Rams he went on loan to Luton, MK Dons and Brentford before joining Crystal Palace in 2010.

At the end of last season Lewis played five games on loan for Mansfield Town.

Lewis has also played 11 full internationals for Wales, the most recent in 2012.
