Reports in the Dover media have suggested Crawley wish to buy him from the Conference side after he impressed in two seasons at the Kent club, helping them gain promotion to the Conference through the play-offs with a fine defensive record.

Walker, 22, is from Crawley Down and was an apprentice at Brighton & Hove Albion before eventually being released by the Seagulls with one first team appearance to his name.

He played for both Crawley Down and Three Bridges youth sides before making the switch to the professional ranks.

Gregory has been impressed by Walker, who trained with Crawley while playing for the Whites last season and is thought to be about to launch a bid for his services as an understudy to the experienced Brian Jensen, who joined Reds from Bury.

Dover have been reported as saying they would expect a high price for Walker, who is still under contract.

Crawley CEO Michael Dunford told fans to expect two more new signings this week, following on from last week’s purchase of Sonny Bradley from Portsmouth and striker Gavin Tomlin from League One rivals Port Vale for an undisclosed fee.
