The following are results from Crawley and Horsham magistrates’ courts.

Paul Shirley, 34, of New England Road, Haywards Heath, was fined £185, with £15.30 compensation, a £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and a £150 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to stealing food from Tesco in Haywards Heath, and to breaching a conditional discharge for shoplifting.

Steven Burt, 44, of Lindfield Road, Ardingly, was fined £620, with £284.17 vehicle excise back duty, and £90 costs. He had pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed vehicle on the A272 at Bolney.

Trevor Guichard, 32, of Oaklands, Ardingly, was fined £400, with £46.67 vehicle excise back duty, and £90 costs. He had been convicted in his absence of driving an unlicensed car on the A272.

Jason Randall, 42, of Station Road, Burgess Hill, was given a one year conditional discharge, with a £15 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and a £150 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to causing harassment by phonecalls and text messages. A two year restraining order was made, barring him from contacting the victim.

Daniel Chard, 27, of Trem Yr Ysgol, Llangollen, was fined £200, with a £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and three penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of driving without a licence at East Grinstead.

Ryan Edson, 18, of Bramble Twitten, East Grinstead, was fined £800, with a £60 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of driving without insurance, and driving without a licence at Crawley.

John Muddell, 20, of Chestnut Copse, Hurst Green, was given a one year conditional discharge, with £100 compensation, a £15 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and a £150 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to stealing £100 cash from the till of a Sainsbury’s in East Grinstead.

Martin Walker, 27, of Bentswood Road, Haywards Heath, was banned from driving for a year, with a £300 fine, a £30 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and a £150 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to drink driving at Hickstead.

James Carey, 18, of Balcombe Road, Crawley, was jailed for five months, with £1,341.05 compensation, an £80 victim surcharge, and a £180 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing a bicycle (three from Burgess Hill Station, one from Hassocks Station, and one from Preston Park Station), stealing food and alcohol from Co-op stores in Burgess Hill, and failing to keep in contact with his offender manager, or to stay at his designated address.
