A family lost its flight at Gatwick Airport after a mother told check-in staff she had a gun in her bag.
Gatwick Police Sergeant Darren Taylor said the incident happened over the weekend.
He tweeted: “I know it was Halloween but there were some real horrors out there.
“Once again another want to be stand up comedian rocks up at the check-in desks and thinks for some weird, mad and strange reason that informing the check-in staff that you have a gun in your bag is really going to win you an award for being funny... WRONG!
“The outcome for this female, her husband and her young child... no flight. Bet she was in their bad books after that #dontbestupid”
