A ‘curly house’ designed by Haywards Heath architect Ecotecture has won an award for its sustainability and design.

The company was awarded the ‘domestic new build award’ in the Greenbuilt Awards 2014, which celebrate sustainable projects and products for the built environment.

Jake White and Joanna Saady, directors of Ecotecture, in Sussex Road, said they were really pleased with the results.

Joanna said: “The secret of good building is not particularly sexy.

“Design is key to low energy building, and build it right when you do it, don’t scrimp on insulation and joinery as you energy consumption will remain high otherwise.”

The house, near Chichester, is super insulated and requires no heating except for the occasional couple of hours in sub zero temperatures.
