Burgess Hill town centre will be buzzing with festive fun later this month.
The annual Christmas celebration and light switch on will be taking place on Saturday November 21 and a whole host of special guests and family activities are set to be held in the town to mark the beginning of the festive period.
The Gruffalo will be making appearances at intervals during the day along with Father Christmas himself and of course his reindeer.
Local music groups including the Rock Choir, No Strings Attached, the Salvation Army Band, Sheddingdean Baptist Gospel Choir and this year’s Martlets Shopping Centre’s Search for a Star Competition winner Dawn McCurry will be performing to shoppers in the town.
The free event has been organised by Burgess Hill Town Centre Partnership and will run from 11am to 5.30pm with the lights being switched on at 5pm at The Bandstand in Church Walk.
Children aged 10 years and under are invited to take part in the Children’s Fancy Dress Competition. There’s no theme, entrants just need to turn up at the Bandstand in Church Walk at 4pm for the judging.
Bright FM’s presenter, Anna Bingham will also be joining the festivities in the afternoon and the winning choir from Bright FM’s Search for a Christmas Choir Competition will be performing at the event.
There will be free parking after 1pm in The Martlets Multi-storey and Church Road short stay car parks, and also Cyprus Road car park (short-stay part only).
Full details about the Christmas Celebrations and Lights Switch On, including a programme for the day, can be found at www.cometoburgesshill.co.uk. In the lead up to Christmas there will be £1 all-day parking in Burgess Hill town centre on Saturday 5th, 12th and 19th December in the Station Road and Queens Crescent long-stay car parks.
