Beacon Parish News: St Martin’s Church, Westmeston. Flower festival on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June. Come and enjoy this event in support of St Peter and St James Hospice and the Church. Local parking available and refreshments on sale in Westmeston Parish Hall. There is also the opportunity to have a ride in a vintage 1912 Ford Model T. 11am-5pm. Jazz, Picnics and Pimms: on Ditchling village green on Sunday 31 July. Organised by the Beacon Parish no ticket is required. Free entry. Just bring a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of live jazz and popular music. Refreshment stall serving alcoholic drinks, local ale, soft drinks and delicious homemade cakes. 12noon - 5pm.

Superfast Broadband: If you would like to sign the petition to bring faster broadband to Ditchling, then please visit www.tinyurl.com/ditchlingbroadbandpetition or sign the paper petition in the village Post Office.

Westmeston Parish Hall: There is now a defibrillator in the porch of the Parish Hall. The provision of this important piece of equipment was a joint initiative between Parish Hall Trustees and Westmeston Parish Council with funding from Burgess Hill Lions. Rob Mills, Chairman of the Council says that the Council is currently looking for a suitable site for a second defibrillator in the north of the Parish and seeking funding to help do this. Along with First Aid Training for Councillors, Trustees and residents, the Parish Hall has been registered as a place of safety in emergencies.

Ditchling Village Fair: Saturday 18 June from 8am unti 6pm. This year’s theme is Kith, Kin and Community. Programmes will be on sale for £1 from local businesses in Ditchling by the end of May. See www.ditchlingfair.co.uk for further information.

St Peter and St James Hospice: If you are interested in volunteering at the hospice, then please contact Jane Cook, Volunteer Co-ordinator on 01444 471598. Current vacancies include flower arrangers, bedmaker, tea/coffee server and warehouse sorters.
