Former Status Quo drummer Jeff Rich once got fans Rockin’ All Over The World.
But he had a smaller though attentive audience at Birchwood Grove School in Burgess Hill when he gave one of his popular masterclasses.
Pupils got a chance to try their skills first hand with the 59-year-old Hackney-born musician.
Jeff had plenty of opportunity to hone technicques like the double stroke roll long before he began 15 years with Quo.
He played with Stretch, Judie Tzuke and the Climax Blues Band before teaming with Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi. Eventually Jeff tired of touring and decided to spend more time with his family.
He started touring schools to pass on his expertise and the youngsters at Birchwood Grove were spellbound as he explained the art of drumming to them.
Jeff, nickname Worsel, had a musical childhood and when he was at school he took part in the renowned opera Tosca at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden before embarking on a rock career.
He has been doing his masterclasses for about 15 years and has visited about 5,000 schools.
On one session he even gave a lesson to youngsters on the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic.
