Emergency teams respond to broken manhole cover

Emergency teams from West Sussex Highways were called to deal with a broken manhole cover in Broadlands, Burgess Hill, this afternoon (March 23), a spokesman for West Sussex Highways has confirmed.

According to a spokesman for West Sussex Highways, the area had been ‘made safe with barriers’.

Southern Water said it was aware of the incident and was starting to carry out repairs.

A spokesman for Southern Water said: “We’ve been notified about a broken manhole cover in Broadlands, Burgess Hill.

“Our crew are on their way to investigate and for the time being, there are safety measures in place around the manhole. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
