Burgess Hill will be buzzing with festive fun and entertainment today for the town centre’s Christmas celebrations and lights switch on.
The free event, organised by the burgess Hill Town Partnership, runs from 11am until 5.30pm, with the lights being switched on at 5pm at The Bandstand in Church Walk.
The Gruffalo will be making appearances at intervals during the day - have your cameras ready to snap a photo of him! Get your skates on and have a go on the artificial ice rink. And of course Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the man himself, so Father Christmas will be in town and of course his reindeer.
Local music groups will be performing throughout the day to get shoppers and visitors in the festive spirit including the Rock Choir, No Strings Attached, Salvation Army Band, Sheddingdean Baptist Gospel Choir and this year’s Martlets Shopping Centre’s Search for a Star Competition winner – Dawn McCurry.
Children aged 10 years and under are invited to take part in the Children’s Fancy Dress Competition. There’s no theme, entrants just need to turn up at the Bandstand in Church Walk at 4pm for the judging.
Bright FM’s presenter, Anna Bingham will also be joining the festivities in the afternoon, plus the winning choir from Bright FM’s Search for a Christmas Choir Competition will be performing at the event to show everyone why they were worthy winners.
There will be free parking after 1pm in The Martlets Multi-storey and Church Road short stay car parks, and also Cyprus Road car park (short-stay part only).
So join this year’s Burgess Hill’s Christmas Celebrations to get you in the festive mood – the perfect way to start your Christmas shopping! Thanks to Burgess Hill Bonfire Society, Martin & Co and PDP Contractors for supporting this year’s event.
In the lead up to Christmas there will be £1 all-day parking in Burgess Hill town centre on Saturday 5th, 12th and 19th December in the Station Road and Queens Crescent long-stay car parks.
