Plans to convert a former court building into flats have been given the green light by Mid Sussex District Council.

Milton House, a three-storey office building in Milton Road, Haywards Heath, will soon become 28 flats.

Emma Cowan of development managers Forix Ltd said: “We’re really pleased that the council think our scheme is a major improvement to this key town centre location.

“We just want to build the best flats we can for our local community.”

The building has been empty for more than two years after it was used as a county court and office space.

The developers – a family business – live in the area and presented their plans to Haywards Heath Town Council in December.

They plan to build an extra storey to the building and extend it over the car park which is currently used as a car wash.
