The decision was made by Mid Sussex District Council’s planning committee at a meeting held at the Council Chamber, in Haywards Heath, on Thursday (February 16).

The application sought outline planning permission to demolish the existing Wyevale garden centre building, located in London Road, Handcross, and replace it with two large industrial buildings.

The two buildings will accommodate 7,800 square metres of floor space.

Developers said the redevelopment of the site would provide economic and social benefits both during and after the construction of the new buildings.

The committee said it had received three letters of objection to the application from two residents before voting unanimously to approve it.
