Pupils from Mid Sussex at Brighton College have celebrated as GCSE results day showed 88% of all grades achieved an A* or A.

99.2% of grades were A*-B.

811 A* grades have been achieved.

91 pupils have secured A*/A in every exam taken.

Thirteen pupils from Mid Sussex have achieved a clean sweep of A*/A grades.

Three achieved nine or more A* grades: Katherine Wong of Wisborough Green, Beatrix Grant, from Handcross and Lilya Tata from Hassocks.

Others celebrating straight A*/A grades are; Naomi Shaw from Lindfield, John Mewes from Burgess Hill, Charlotte White from Haywards Heath and Jade Prideaux de Lacy from Wivelsfield Green.

Head Master, Richard Cairns, said: “I am delighted that Brighton College pupils have again outperformed every other school in the county but I am even more thrilled by the individual success stories.

“It is especially rewarding to see those for whom academic studies were never easy celebrating A* and A grades today. I take my hat off to them.”
