The Mobile Library: will be in the Red Lion car park today, Thursday 15th between 10.05am and 10.50am. This is provided by West Sussex County Council and we really do need to make use of it as much as we can otherwise we could well lose it! Unfortunately I am at work at this time and unable to visit it myself but I am sure that whilst they may be limited in the amount and variety of books they are able to take out with them on their rounds, if there is a particular book you are after, they would be able to have for you by their next visit in two weeks, on 29 September.

The Community Bus: will be off to the Isle of Wight on Saturday 17th, leaving the village at 7am from Nymans and leaving the island on the 6pm ferry. I know there were some seats still available recently so if you are interested give Christina a ring on 400212; the cost is £28 per person.

Quiz Night: On Sunday evening as mentioned last week, there is a Quiz Night at the Victory Inn in Staplefield in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice. Food will be available from 6pm and the Quiz will start at 7.30pm and teams should be made up of no more than 4 people at a cost of £2.50 per person. There will be the usual raffle as well so why not wander down and see how well you can do – in both the quiz and the raffle! I do believe there is a prize for the winning team but you will have to be there to find out just exactly what it is!

WI: On Tuesday evening, 20 September, the WI@Handcross will be holding their monthly meeting in the Parish Hall from 7.30 until 9.30 pm; everyone is welcome to go along. This month’s speaker, Ann, is from the Orpheus School of Music, a specialist school for disabled pupils; Ann will be accompanied by one of her pupils, Angus, who will be singing during her talk.

Outing Club: Finally, the Outing Club will be going to St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 23 September; I have heard that there might be a few seats on the coach still available so if you are interested, and at this late stage you may not have to be a member to go, get in touch with Sheila on 01293 402867. The cost is £29 per person and the pick-up times start at 9 am from Haywards Heath; Cuckfield 9.05; Staplefield 9.15 am; Truggers 9.20 am; Windmill Platt 9.25 am and finally Pease Pottage at 9.30 am. Please be at your pick-up point ahead of the time given to ensure that you aren’t responsible for keeping people waiting further down the line! If you aren’t interested in going on this trip but would like to know more about the Outing Club and where they go, I’m sure Sheila will be more than happy to tell you all about it as they are friendly club and would welcome any new members of any age.
