The Royal British Legion Women’s Section will be meeting today at 3.00pm in the Royal British Legion Clubhouse, Woodlands Road. Today’s activity is a Harvest table afternoon with a member of the local Clergy.
The next meeting of the Hurst, Hassocks and Ditchling U3A takes place on Friday 11th September in the Adastra Hall, Keymer Road at 2.00pm, where the Canine Partners charity will show how a trained dog can help disabled people.
Also on Friday, Star Cinema returns for the start of a new season at Adastra Hall, Keymer Road. The first film will be The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (cert PG). This follow up to the hugely successful Best Exotic Marigold Hotel follows the further adventures of the characters played by Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Celia Imrie and Ronald Pickup as two new arrivals (played by Tamsin Greig and Richard Gere) arrive to claim the remaining vacancy and the owner, played by Dev Patel, tries to develop a second hotel. A charming comedy. Doors open at 7.00pm. with the film starting at 7.30pm. Refreshments and raffle.
The Hassocks Horticultural Society Autumn Show takes place on Saturday 12th September at Adastra Hall, Keymer Road from 2.30pm. This is your opportunity to see members’ exhibits of Flowers, Floral Art, Vegetables and Fruit, Cookery, Preserves, Handicrafts, Photography, and A Painting. There will also be a Children’s Class, the subjects being “A Pressed Flower Picture, 3 Rock Cakes”. Refreshments will be available, and there will be Plants for Sale and a Raffle. All welcome. Admission 50p
Hassocks Field Society will be meeting on Monday 14th September in Adastra Hall, Keymer Road at 7.45pm. where John Cooper will be giving a talk on “Amber Windows on the Past”. Visitors Welcome. £2.00
Next Thursday, 17th September, the Hassocks Health Centre in Windmill Avenue are holding a talk on Childhood Illnesses & Teenage Health Problems from 10.00am to 11.30am. The session will be led by Dr Isabel Konrad. Those who come to the session, will, by the end of the session....
