Haywards Heath care home remembers loved ones who have passed

Maplehurst Nursing Home on Oathall Road invited people to reminisce about their loved ones last Tuesday.

Issac Theophilos, manager at Maplehurst, said: “We’re releasing balloons into the sky to honour the memories of those who passed.

“We get attached to both the residents and their families, and since people pass away there’s no reason for them to come back, so we wanted people to come and we can all remember their loved ones.”

“Occasions like this will bring back the relatives to continue the relationship with Maplehurst.”

As the balloons were released Belinda Eade, activity therapist at Maplehurst, read a poem.

One relative of a former resident said: “Maplehurst is an extended family, always love to come back”

Another added: “I would still like to visit Maplehurst once or twice in a week even though my dad passed away, to keep me occupied.

“Special thanks to the staff for their extended support throughout the stay at Maplehurst”

The was tea and scones for the seven families and staff to enjoy whilst they shared memories of their loved ones.

The manager added: “Belinda requires special appreciation for this lovely idea, and Maplehurst continues to encourage visits by families & friends with no visiting hour restrictions.”
