Town councillors have given their backing to a project which could see a former county court converted into 28 apartments.
Haywards Heath Town Council is supporting plans to develop Milton House, a three-storey office building in Milton Road, Haywards Heath.
Developers are planning to build an extra storey on the building and extend it over the car park which is currently used as a car wash.
A spokesman for the town council said: “The town council is supportive of these proposals which seek to regenerate and reconfigure an under utilised site in a prominent part of the town where blocks of residents accommodation already exist.”
Mid Sussex District Council will vote on the plans in the next few weeks.
