Jeremy Hall is a shining example of how to multi-task.

He has a young family, is undergoing chemotherapy, lost his job and spent an anxious few weeks searching for another one and somehow, through all that, he managed to write two books.

Jeremy, 46, from Grand Avenue, Hassocks was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and was sent to the Royal Marsden Hospital where specialists found a huge tumour wrapped round the femoral artery in his thigh.

After gruelling chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Jeremy faced another life-changing experience when he was made redundant.

“That inspired me to write my first book”, he said. “I found a new job and wrote the book on the train to and from work. The book sort of wrote itself. One of the characters contracted Leukaemia, so writing it was a grieving process for me.”

More than six years on, Jeremy has written two books: ‘Jack - a thin veil of duplicity’ and ‘Summer Days’. Both are selling well on Amazon Kindle and are particularly popular in America.

Summer Days is set in and around Hassocks and Brighton but the characters are not based on local residents.

Jeremy said: “There’s one really horrible woman in the book and I have said at the back that she bears no resemblance to anyone I know!”

Although Jeremy’s cancer returned last year he has a positive approach to life and is coping well through a long course of chemotherapy.

Jeremy said: “It lowers your immune system and I’ve had a cold for a long time but, otherwise, I feel fine. One day, I’m hoping to pursue my dream of writing full-time”.

You can read about Jeremy and his books in this week’s Mid Sussex Times, which came out on January 26.
