PLAY GROUND AT SOUTH AVENUE: is closing for 7 weeks to enable work to be carried out, to extend the area and install new play equipment. Perfect timing, to be ready for the summer holidays.

VACANCY FOR A PARISH COUNCILLOR: The Parish Council has one vacancy for a new Councillor in the Hurstpierpoint ward. This will be a co-opted post but the Councillor will have the same responsibilities and powers as elected members and will be in post until May 2019. This is a voluntary unpaid position and you would be expected to attend 2 or 3 evening meetings each month. There is an application form for you to fill in – NOTE- the deadline to receive your application form is Tuesday 21 June at noon. MID SUSSEX RAMBLERS: Sayers Common finger shaped walk on Saturday 18 June at 10.30 starting in the layby beside the church. An easy 4 miles led by Frances contact on 01273 842628.

HORTICULTURAL SUMMER SHOW AND GARDENALIA SALE: on Saturday 18 June in the Village Centre, 2.15pm. There will be the usual flower, fruit, vegetable, cookery and children’s exhibits, plus a sale of interesting antique and vintage garden items. Home made cake and tea all afternoon and ending as usual with the famous grand auction. If you wish to have a go the show schedule is obtainable from Gibsons in the High Street. CREAM TEA GARDEN PARTY: in aid of the RNLI on Sunday 19 June 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Blue Haze, 50, Hurst Road, Hassocks. Cream tea £5, plus a raffle and sale of cakes, produce and Lifeboat souvenirs.

HURST, HASSOKS & DITCHLING U3A: Monday 20th June, Hurstpierpoint Village Centre 2pm. A talk by Brian Braby on Hops, Oast Houses and Old Sussex Breweries. Open to members and non-members.

WOLSTONBURY WI: monthly meeting in the Club Suite in the Village Centre on Tuesday 21 June at 7.45pm. Subject Gongoozling for Beginners, life on the canals by Neil Sadler. Enquiries phone 01273 834421.

MID SUSSEX RAMBLERS: are arranging another local walk on Wednesday 29 June starting in the Trinity Road car park at 7pm. It will be a circular walk to the south of Hurstpierpoint at a leisurely pace for 4 miles. Led by Phil contact on 01273 835931.
