Today a friend and I drove into Hassocks, put her parking disc into the front of her car and strolled off for a browse round the shops and a cup of coffee - very pleasant.
The parking discs cost £1 and can be re-used in several other places.
Given the amount of empty shop premises in Burgess Hill now, I don’t suppose there is much difference - except there are more cafes. So how does the Council etc justify the cost of parking here - when 80p for one hour is a lot if you only want a couple of things in one shop - with not enough time left for a coffee as well !
I think I wrote a letter once before re. car parking in BH versus other towns / counties - often free, but whilst our town gets smaller, parking charges don’t. Why can’t we adopt the disc system ? - at least until all plans for a bright new shopping centre plus are complete, I am sure the traders struggling to survive would agree with me ?
