WHEN, one wonders, will Lindfield Rural Parish Council's whingeing cease? If its chairman could put selfishness aside long enough to acquaint himself with the facts relating to the Southern Relief Road he will find that this road, if built as designed, will not cater for any additional traffic from new housing on land bordering it to the south at Hurst Farm and Sandrocks, as his letter suggests.
The Southern Relief Road is, and always was, designed to cater for through traffic only.
Lindfield parish councillors lobbied hard for Section 106 monies, in the order of 250,000, all generated by housing developments in Haywards Heath, to build the Millennium Village Centre at Scaynes Hill for Lindfield Rural Parish residents to enjoy, but when it comes to Lindfield shouldering its long-overdue share of the housing burden it is a different story!
I very much hope that Ms Claire Tester, head of economic promotion and planning at Mid Sussex District Council, overburdened as she is, will treat the called-for deluge of 'Disgusted, Lindfield' letters with the planning merit they deserve.
David Hill, Snowdrop Lane, Lindfield Rural Parish resident.
