Lindfield bonfire and fireworks cancelled
Lindfield bonfire night 2011.
Heavy rain of recent days has claimed a high profile vicitm with the cancellation of tonight’s Lindfield bonfire and firewpork spectacular.
After a site inspection of the Common yesterday, Lindfield Bonfire Society said it regretted to inform the public that for safety reasons it was forced to cancel both its firework display and bonfire for November 5.
Mark Tampion-Lacey, Minutes Secretary, said: “This is not a decision we have taken lightly and is obviously a great disappointment to us all, however the safety of all those attending our event must take priority.”
The bonfire society said it would still be holding it torch lit procession round the village and also the Children’s Fancy Dress competition at the King Edward Hall.
The Guy will still be outside Glyn Thomas & Son butchers on the High Street during the day today with bonfire programmes for sale.

The revised schedule can be seen on the event page of the LBS website.
Mark said: “This will still be a great event so please do come and support us during the day and on the evening so we can ensure next year goes off with a bang.”
Members will continue to update the web site in the run up to the event with any further news or developments. This can be found at www.lindfieldbonfiresociety.co.uk
