A new look to shop fronts in the Orchards centre in Haywards Heath is set to cost in the region of £7.5m.
At the same time The Broadway is developing its ‘village’ identity and a ‘Station Quarter’ group has been established. All are part of ongoing efforts to repackage Haywards Heath as a shopping and business destination.
At its next stakeholder briefing October 17, Haywards Heath Live Town Team will report on developments aimed at developing and promoting the town.
One highlight will be the launch of the Haywards Heath Loyalty Card which will promote offers from retailers, bars and other businesses. Sponsored by the Birch Hotel it aims to bring new shoppers and visitors to the town.
At the same time, the idea of ‘village hubs’ within Haywards Heath is gaining momentum, according to Town Team chairman Ruth de Mierre.
Ruth said the ‘Broadway Village’ had organised long awaited Christmas lights, courtesy of Haywards Heath Town Council and its retailers. Village events are being planned and a Father Christmas visit on November 23.
Across the town, the Burrell Road Business Park is trying to re-brand itself and, with help from the mayor, is planting a World War One centenary garden.
At its briefing, at 5.45pm at Haywards Heath Town Hall next Thursday, the town team will also announce the setting up of the ‘Station Quarter’ group. News about the station redevelopment programme is expected at the same time.
In the same station area, the Mill Green Business Park has been launched, with 1st Central playing host and taking a leading role.
The briefing evening also promises an update on the Orchards shopping centre’s redevelopment, which has now been given a price tag of £7.5m with shop front modernisation in the first phase.
The Christmas Festival will be on November 23 and 24 while events for 2014 include a Wedding Fair and Fashion Show, the popular Strictly Come Gardening event, the Greater HH Bike Ride, and a food festival.
Ruth said Nuffield Hospital would give news on its investment plans at the briefing adding: “As we’re now truly making progress across the town, we need everyone to carry on working together for the success of all and I know it’s within our grasp!” To attend ring Ruth on 01444 453399, email email@example.com.
