FRESH falls of snow hit the heart of Mid Sussex late this afternoon.

Just as the district was seeing signs of a possible thaw a heavy fall came just after 4pm. (tuesday)

It left organisers of services keeping a watch for overnight snow to assess closures and disruptions.
