A body has been found in a field near a Mid Sussex village.
It was discovered at a field at Sharpthorne, north of Haywards Heath.
Police say it is that of missing man Alan Hope.
Mr Hope went missing from Old Plawhatch Farm, Plawhatch Lane, Sharpthorne, West Sussex, on Monday 7 May and was found on Wednesday night.
The 45-year-old failed to turn up for work on the farm where he lived and police became increasingly concerned for his welfare. Searches of the surrounding area were carried out and his sister appealed for him to get in touch.
His body was found by a member of the public near Plawhatch Lane, at 8.15pm.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “This is tragic news. We had made extensive enquiries in our efforts to find Mr Hope since he was reported missing. Our sympathy goes to his family.”
His death is not being treated as suspicious and an inquest will be held at a later date.
