The BB team with the rivals Eggheads

Eggheads TV quiz team found themselves facing a crack team of ex-Haywards Heath Grammar School pupils.

The challengers called themselves ‘The BBs’, a shortened version of the ‘Burrell Boozers’ named after the Burrell Arms pub in Haywards Heath, where they used to play bar billiards in their youth.

The team consists of five friends who were at school together nearly 50 years ago.

They are Paul Barnett, Mike Dawes, Tim Flesher, John Izard and Terry Newman.

The group has remained friends over the years and meets regularly.

Two of the team – Paul Barnett and Terry Newman - plus reserve team member Cathy Barnett, who is a leading light of Mid Downs Radio and Burgess Hill in Bloom, still live in the Mid-Sussex area.

The recording took place at the BBC studios in Glasgow where the show is based.

Did they manage to beat the Eggheads team?

Paul said: “ I am afraid people will have to wait and see when the show is broadcast, probably in March 2013.”
