Burgess Hill Bonfire Society has begun the new year by handing out donations from its 2013 charity collections.

The society’s secretary Phil Cross is pictured above presenting a £590 cheque to Playbox Playgroup’s Anne Lambert.

Playbox in Gloucester Road, Burgess Hill, is one of four recipients of a quarter share of the £2,360 charity collection from the society’s 2013 torchlit parade, bonfire and fireworks, the largest annual free event in Burgess Hill.

Other recipients are the Burgess Hill based Court Meadow Riding for the Disabled and the RESPECT Youth Group and Knowles Tooth Children’s Centre in Hurstpierpoint.

The bonfire society’s AGM will be at the King’s Church, Victoria Road, Burgess Hill, on Sunday February 2 at 8pm.

It is looking for a new secretary, treasurer and members to help it move forward and continue its charitable work within the local community.
