A man from Burgess Hill is in critical condition after he was hit by a train at Burgess Hill last night (June 9).
A man in his 50s was airlifted to King’s College Hospital, an acute care facility in London, at 7.10pm.
South East Coast Ambulance said he had head and lower leg injuries.
British Transport Police said it is believed the man deliberately stepped out in front of the train.
The man’s family have been informed.
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 7.58pm.
