Campaign to save the ducks

Lindfield residents are calling for safety improvements after the village's ducks are killed by speeding drivers.

In the last month two of the much-loved animals have been killed on the main road through the village.

Residents are now urging local councils to lower the speed limit and provide signposts indicating the presence of wildfowl.

Sharon Perry, landlady of The White Horse believes the village has an affinity with the pond and the wildlife and their lives should be protected. Ms Perry has sent letters round to residents to gain support for the improvements.

She said: ""I took over the pub a couple of months ago and have already seen two dead ducks outside. Everyone is very sad about it and the animals are part of Lindfield. The last time a careless motorist ran over it with total disregard and without stopping."
