Cat up tree and other exciting stories
Fire fighters rescued a cat in a busy period for incidents for Mid Sussex crews.
The cat was reported stuck 20ft up at Swan Close in Burgess Hill.
A crew from Burgess Hill helped the RSPCA bring the cat to the ground using a ladder and lines.
The fire and rescue service said the cat had been left in the care of an RSPCA officer after the hour-long rescue on Sunday morning.
On Sunday at Lowfield Road, Haywards Heath, a crew from the town put out a chimney fire.
On the same day Haywards Heath fire and rescue crews put out a fire at an electricity pole in a field off Snowdrop Lane Lindfield using a dry powder extinguisher.
A UK Power Networks engineer attended.
On Saturday a Turners Hill crew put out a chimney fire at London Road Balcombe.
And on Friday crews from Hurstpierpoint and Burgess Hill were called to boarding kennels at London Road, Albourne to put out a fire in a roof space around the flue in an incinerator room. They cut away damaged areas using small tools.
The fire and rescue service said the fire had been started by accident.
