Why not start the new year by recognising and rewarding the most deserving members of our society in Mid Sussex with the inaugural Mid Sussex Times Community Awards?
We are inviting nominations in 15 different categories that demonstrate the many important ways in which people living and working here contribute to their community.
We want to meet and herald those who are a shining example to others, people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, those who are exceptionally caring and helpful, as well as the organisations which help bring us all together.
Editor In Chief of the Mid Sussex Times Gary Shipton believes that in these difficult economic times, it is more important than ever to recognise the unsung heroes of our communities.
“We are launching the Mid Sussex Times Community Awards to say thank you to all those people who make a real difference to our lives – often without reward or recognition.
“I do urge all readers to use the form on this page to nominate someone they know who makes a real difference.
“I know from our business awards that recipients really appreciate these community honours, especially when they have been selected by other members of their community.
“This is a great way to lift spirits and build on all that makes the Mid Sussex district so special,” Mr Shipton said.
Many nominees will be invited to a special award ceremony at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath, where they will receive the credit and adulation owed to them.
Often the most deserving members of our society shy away from the limelight, their actions can be taken for granted or even disregarded and ignored.
But no longer! Do not let this opportunity pass. Let the community know who is your best friend, neighbour, youth or coach.
What sports team, school or playgroup most inspires you? Who is a true local hero, or deserves special recognition?
The Birch Hotel in Haywards Heath are sponsoring the Local Hero category.
Voting forms can be found in the Mid Sussex Times on January 17 and January 31.
