Charity thanks Mid Sussex people for help and donations

Lynn Bassett Paws and Claws appeal for more help in the economic downturn

A Mid Sussex cat rescue charity wanted to say thank you to those who responded to its plea in the Mid Sussex Times.

In the November 15 edition of the Middy, Paws and Claws in Sayers Common asked for help from the public during the recession. Lyn Basset, chairman of the charity, said that since the article they had received phone calls and two cheques for £100.

“One phone call led to the homing of five-year-old Merlin. As soon as the couple saw him they fell in love and came to collect him on Monday evening,” Mrs Basset said.

“We are particularly delighted as Merlin developed diabetes a couple of years ago and we knew that would make him difficult to home as he needs insulin injections every 12 hours. Undeterred by this, he left our Rescue Centre with a new bed, a fleecy blanket with his name embroidered on that a sponsor had kindly sent him, and a supply of insulin and syringes.”

Donations can be made through the website www.pawsandclaws-ars.org.uk or to secretary, Mrs I. Holman, 8 Hillcrest Lane, Scaynes Hill, RH17 7PH. If anyone is interested in adopting a cat phone Val on 01444 457758 for an appointment or come to a monthly homing afternoon.

To sponsor one of the older cats contact Mrs L. Basset, 16 Duncton Close, Haywards Heath, RH16 4DX.
